To be honest, language changes but ever so slightly. Pirates were always hated by nation-states and landlords were also hated by the people locked to the lands. Old is new, new is old.

I've been watching Steal This Film (2006) and just have been nodding my head to things. Because this is also the kind of infra that'd prevent the information around mutual aid, history, etc can be kept as it's getting harder to preserve information.
