Tbh, I think people are going to slowly end up going back to Twitter because Mastodon doesn't do what they want it to do nor will they be interested in trying other options (which you should - most of them most likely implement the things you'd want like Misskey or Akkoma). I guess it comes with being ... the visible elephant in the room.
