I sorely need a Calibre-to-Bookwyrm extension, so I can more easily update my status from my library.
Tangentially, does anyone keep an index of their physical book reading list in something like Calibre? I've been considering making another "virtual" library to track that (but I'll definitely have some duplicates).
I'm curious about syncing my reading progress to places like Open Library. I, like most people, still send it to Goodreads (especially because there's the strong social aspect of it - I've gotten some good recommendations from peers on there) but I know that things like Open Library (and also Bookwyrm, though I'm inclined to use that when I begin making my site more directly compatible with ActivityPub versus this current syndication approach I'm taking now).
Told myself that I won't buy any more books, but now I need to know MORE. Here are some that I've been itching to read:
- Peace, Land, and Bread: Issue 1 by The Center for Communist Studies
- The Classics of Marxism: Volume 1 by Frederick Engels, Vladimir Lenin and Karl Marx
- Lenin: Selected Writings by .. Lenin, lol
- How to Read Donald Duck: Imperialist Ideology in the Disney Comic
- Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster by Dana Thomas
- Kill It with Fire: Manage Aging Computer Systems (and Future Proof Modern Ones) by Marianne Bellotti
- Collected Works of Josef Stalin: Volume 1 by Josef V. Stalin
What are some books that a senior software developer should be looking into reading? I'm into books on theory and practice. For example, https://pimbook.org/, https://hintjens.gitbooks.io/social-architecture/content/ are two in the realm that I can think of (either applied theory or theory through practice, respectively).
Strongly recommend everyone to buy @hadasthier's https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/1481-a-people-s-guide-to-capitalism, the e-book's $2, pretty accessible (read the inline sections! look at the footnotes!) and easily is what I'd send to anyone who wants an authentic look into capitalism and what the world could look like.
My copy of Chokepoint Capitalism is here, and even just the text in the inside cover has me ready to get into this.
i need to set a new personal rule to give away a book every time I buy a new one or I'm going to have to open up a bookstore with the number of books I have (and KEEP buying! I want to read it all, lol)
The fact that Amazon blocked libro.fm from being able to have their app in their Kindle devices is wild. Not a problem for me, I've been using Bookcamp for some time now. Y'all got audiobook apps y'all like?
