I'd love that, thank you! I do have to work on the PDF form of it, lol.

got laid off today for such a shitty but common reason. I have more details coming up on my next steps but tl;dr: looking for work, ideally want to do something good.

I know tech Twitter be lying like crazy bc if they were really making as much easy money as they say they wouldn’t all be trying so hard to also sell courses, e-books, resume makeovers, and career services.

so I was reading Assata Shakur and one of her main points was about how arrogance and the pride of “leaders” can actually ruin social change, because how can you build community if you spend most of your time talking down to the very community you want to organize with?

Capitalism always claims to have the power <as expressed in “resources,” “growth,” “development”> to eliminate oppressions, but it does not because it cannot.

Capitalist myths, like above, are illogical— yet so many people really do believe in it. Now seeing “AM” discourse and

Amazing to see how many of these “I worked for a defense contractor too!” posts include people telling on themselves about how they come from families with multiple generations of college degrees and familial wealth but they’re somehow “the only jobs available.”

fun lil deceptive UI pattern from (apparently desperate) F*cebook this morning: I updated my phone & shortly after got a push notification from FB - I’ve had those turned entirely off for at least 3-4 years! so I go spelunking in the settings…

Sure did :)

I also didn't realize that the other organizations were impacted as well, but it appears that the scope of the layoffs was much wider than I originally thought. My heart goes out to all the others affected as well; it's not super fun to be job hunting right now

Hey, I'm currently looking for work writing rust-lang code

I've been writing Rust for over 7 years, most of which has been full time. I regularly contribute and review code for the stdlib, and maintain several popular crates

Hit up my DMs if that sounds like a good fit

i have a longstanding theory that the abstraction of factory farming drives meat consumption

if you're not actually confronted with the violence inherent in eating meat, you eat more of it. also because it's just a lot of work.

September will bring the melee focused Steam Bash Bash event

Valve has announced that the Steam Bash Bash event will be going live between September 19 and September 26. This particular event is more of a violent one with the focus on hack and slash, spectacle fighters and whatever games focus on some form of melee fighting hence the bash bash.

This isn't just another little genre-focused sale event though, it's going to be a little more like Next Fest it appears with sections for unreleased games and demos to get their own bit in the spotlight too.

Looks like this time it's invite-only by Valve too, as Valve will be reaching out to developers about it as long as they have the Steamworks permission "Receive Steamworks Communication" set.

Valve list various criteria for games and those that are primarily thought of as one of these types: Character Action Games, Spectacle Fighter, Hack-and-Slash and Musou. Games must have melee combat as the "primary game mechanic" too and Valve said they typically have some of these too:

  • RPG elements

  • Third-person gameplay

  • Fast-paced combat

  • Swordplay, shooting, etc.

  • Tracked combat combos or a visual representation of damage being dealt

  • Character moveset/weapon customization

  • Score/ranking system
