I’m not sure where I stand on the PTO debate.

On one hand, unlimited PTO sounds GREAT, but if the company culture around it sucks, then you’re SOL and the company owes you nothing for unused time when you leave.

On the other hand, 2weeks PTO/8 sick days sounds criminal 😭*

I agree. Like I'm in favor of minimum forced vacation (like you HAVE to take off a month at least every year). But completely unlimited in the wrong place is a trap. And you tend not to know UNTIL you take it.

I’m not sure where I stand on the PTO debate.

Instead of keeping a backlog of features (solutions), try keeping a backlog of problems. That way you can prioritize the impact of the problem, instead of prioritizing how easy it is to build the solution 💡

“A Marxist is an internationalist, but also as Mao pointed out the Marxist of an oppressed nation must also be a patriot. The fight against that nation’s national oppression is ‘internationalism applied.’” - Amiri Baraka

Dr. Tiller’s clinic in Wichita was firebombed in 1986; he was shot in both arms in 1993–and still, he persisted in providing abortion care to those who needed it. He was murdered by another anti-abortion extremist.

His memory is a blessing & yesterday’s win is an honor to him.

Someone over on reddit posted a list of just some of the projects that have been cancelled since the Warner Bros/Discovery merger, and when you see it laid out like this ig becomes very clear that Discovery are very much going scorched earth on WB's entire portfolio

Like the fact that Harriet Tubman was disabled.

She had, “painful headaches, disruptive and frightening “fits” and what was then described as “narcolepsy” when she appeared unconscious.” Which historians believe were epileptic seizures and hypersomnia. https://msmagazine.com/2022/02/10/harriet-tubman-disability-democracy/

The US stunt in Taiwan was designed to bait China into an overreaction that would compromise its broader commitment to creating a new, law-based international order.

Instead, China is following what was clearly a long-planned response.
